About Us

A Voice in the Wilderness Empowerment Center is an IRS recognized 501(C)(3) non-profit organization. We are committed to educating, empowering, and eradicating the epidemics that have plagued Florida.

We are restoring individuals, including veterans, children and families, who have fallen through the cracks. Many are experiencing addiction, exploitation, homelessness, or some combination of these and are 'TRAPPED in the Trenches.

The aim of our organization is to rebuild our community ONE VOICE at a time. A Voice in the Wilderness Empowerment Center is a trailblazing grassroots organization that provides EMERGENCY temporary shelter, and life saving support services throughout South and Southwest Florida. A Voice in the Wilderness Empowerment Center is the only community-based organization that trains individuals and distributes Narcan free of charge to those who are at risk of overdosing. AVITWEC saves lives, restores lives, and reconciles families.

Ramona D. Miller

Founder and Visionary
Serving is not what A Voice in The Wilderness Foundation founder and visionary Ramona D. Miller does, but who she is. Ms. Miller is a proud United States Army Veteran and exercises her exceptional mapping ability to reach, identify, and recover those who require critical intervention and services. With over 25 years of experience in human services, Ms. Miller creates and implements innovative models that have resulted in excellent and expected outcomes. She is on the frontlines fighting to eradicate Human Trafficking and to end the National Opioid Crisis and has been featured in many investigative reports for her instrumental role in the community.

The TRAPPED Emergency Relief Fund (TERF) is used to provide emergency shelter, transportation, food and other basic needs to community members in need. Your generous donation will help us continue providing free life-saving services.
